Perform a Swap

Swap NIGHT for USDM from the main swap screen.

Workflow

Setup wallet (see Wallet tutorial) .

Connect your wallet in the Pulse Dapp.

Mint shielded Pulse test NIGHT via our Faucet (see why below) .

Go the Swap page, and select NIGHT as the input token and USDM as the output token.

Enter the amount of NIGHT you want to swap.

Click Swap.

Approve the transaction in the wallet popup.

Wait about 3 minutes for the batcher to fulfill the order.

Verify reflected shielded coin balances in the wallet.

Unshielded NIGHT and shielded test NIGHT

The purpose of getting NIGHT from the official Midnight faucet is to generate DUST. You need DUST to pay for transactions, but the NIGHT you receive from the official faucet is unshielded NIGHT, not the shielded test NIGHT you use to swap on Pulse.

Pulse uses a shielded DEX contract, so swaps need shielded test tokens. There currently is not an easy way to convert unshielded Preprod tokens into shielded tokens, so Pulse provides its own faucet for Preprod shielded test NIGHT.

In practice, use the official Midnight faucet to mint unshielded NIGHT and generate DUST, then use the Pulse faucet to mint the shielded test NIGHT that can actually be used for swaps on Preprod.
